INDUSTRY STANDARD
Integribuild developed the Model Code of Conduct for a very simple reason-there was none.
Prior to the Model Code there was no common, industry-wide attempt to define a set of common standards in which all contractors-large, small, general or specialty-would operate. By adopting the Model Code, your organization is communicating, in no uncertain terms, that not only is your leadership committed to ethical behavior but that your leadership understands the value and potential efficiency lent to the organization once this Model Code is propagated throughout the industry.
Purchasers of construction services will know before they select a contractor which of the competing organizations has made a formal commitment to industry best practices and ethical conduct standards and which may be giving the topic lip service. Subcontractors will feel more confident that "on the level" communications will occur on and after bid day. In essence, all subscribers will have a more efficient network of delivery partners because they all speak a common standards-of-conduct language. And owners, all other factors being equal, will look more favorably upon a solicitor that subscribes to the Model Code over one that does not.
CONCISE, YET ROBUST
The Integribuild Model Code presents, in clear, easy-to-understand terms, many topics that must be understood by all employees to insure that a culture of integrity and ethical conduct is manifested throughout the enterprise and at all levels of organization. The Model Code defines or describes each topic and presents numerous scenarios to reinforce the subject policy, yet does so in non-threatening language and in helpful tones that will foster a sprit of cooperation and pride.
ASSURANCE
Not sure if that off-color joke was "over the edge" or not? Uncertain as to the proper course of action relative to overhearing a competitors price on a competing project? Does your entire staff know what to do with an email that arrives and contains reference to a potentially illegal act by one of your field personnel?
The Model Code can serve as a foundation document for training on best business practices and, to the extent that modifications do not alter the basic premise of the Code, can be customized for your industry segment and your organization.
